99 sti ecu into wrx
Ok,
Just thought i would ask before i started doing anything, I am looking at increasing my cars power a little bit, not much but just to the same as a sti. Im looking for reliability, and to be able to take it out on the track on a 40deg day and it to be ok. So what i was thinking was changing my ecu and turbo to one out of a v5/6 sti. So what problems am i going to come across? I have heard that the crank and cam angle sensor wiring is reversed, and it has a IAT sensor that i would have to wire in as well. is there any other major differences between the engines, apart from the ports and sodium filled valves, possibly cams? Would i see a benefit from changing the intake cams to match or would it run ok with the stock wrx cams? Any ideas appreciated

The Sti engine has different cams and a larger turbo. It would work if you switch the relevant pins, but it may run richer due the tune being for a better flowing head and bigger turbo. Boost would be only slightly higher (Around 16psi).

So without the turbo it would run with slightly more boost? if i do the turbo aswell then the stock td04 wont be working as hard as the sti turbo VF24?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the v5/6 sti? Thanks Tom

Dont do it. Pay the money and get a ecutek (I dont think they do verso for my99 / 00 yet). Too much messing around. The STI exhuast is very restrictive - very similar to the normal wrx one. Make sure you have a good 3" tbe on there. Brendon

So you think get a ecutek, that was the other option that i was thinking of doing, but is there anyone in perth who can tune them? Are their reprogramed ecu's any good? I guess that i should email them but my main reasons for doing this is: Slightly more power, my car makes 117.5kw ATW now, on a dyno dynamics dyno. If i could get this to around 130-145kw ATW then i will be a very happy man Higher rev limiter, i would like to have a bit of extra flexability on the track and i think that a extra ~800-1000rpm would help out a bit More power up higher in the rev range, say peaking 6500rpm but if possible with the stock STI exhaust (the one i have on now) I am not really interested in peak power figures, or being super fast down the quater. i am looking for a car that has good power everywhere in the rev range from about 3500rpm up to rev limitier
