STI ECU Install

Hey guys, need to get a STI ecu fitted to my 99 WRX. I am about to drop in a 99 STI engine and need someone to install the ECU. Can anyone recommend a place to do the job. Does anyone know a rough estimate on how much it would cost and can the STI ecu be tuned?

Regards Brendan

Ecu cannot be flashed for 99-00 Gc8 sti..... Power FC or Possum Link are the cheapest options for tunable ecu for that era of Sti.

is it jap spec ecu?.....if so it's tuned for 100 ron.

Yeah, It's a 99 Jap STI ecu. So are you telling me i need to get a power FC or possum link to get my engine to run properly? I read somewhere else that there could be possible pinging on 98 oct.

If you want have your car tuned, as in max possible power for any modifications then you'll need to go for a Possum Link or Power FC.

99-00 Sti ecu cannot be flashed (re-programmed).

Your engine will run fine on 98 with the Jap ecu, just don't boost past 16.5 psi and all should be good.

I'd be doing a fuel pump before running the STI engine & computer though(It's cheap insurance against a lean out).

Thanks for the advice, I never thought about the fuel pump. I'm trying to get as much information as possible so i don't ruin this engine. :D Would you reccomend a place to get the ecu fitted?

Can anyone tell me a really good fuel pump to use. I know walbro and bosch are good but does anyone know the model of pump best suited. Cheers

Walbro xx342. Can't remember what the xx letters are, but the last 3 are 342. It's a 255l/hr (500hp) drop in, plug up fuel pump

Skip ebay and buy it locally. There were a few fakes going around at one stage. Pay the extra few dollars for peace of mind.
