I had Maximum do the Ecutek in my car. Everything else is still stock. No problems so far. Performance-wise, very noticeable difference. That "throw ya back in the seat" feel comes on earlier. It was suggested I may notice slightly better fuel economy when driving "sensibly," but I am yet to see the evidence...

So, you guys recommend STechnic for servicing/maintenance/brakes etc? I've only heard of them recently and have been thinking of shopping around...

Off the shelf "stage #" tunes are a disaster waiting to happen.

Whatever way you decide to go, make sure it's a customized map, tuned for your car (not a similar car with the same mods) on the dyno.

ECUTEK Race ROM has additional features, taken from the ECUTEK website:

RaceROM for Subaru is available now! RaceROM currently supports the following features on Subaru Electronic Throttle based ECUs:

•Map Switching for Fuel, Accelerator, Timing, Boost, VVT and Rev Limit.

•Per-gear boost control.

•Per-gear rev limits.

•Launch Control.

•Downshift auto blip.

•Flat-foot shifting.

•Speed Density based calibration option.

Can you do these with the others?

J

IMO, Ecutek offers a great package with proper setup and calibration scales.

The problem with open source is that it is free. Quite often than not, the scaling and definitions have to be scaled and loaded to get the software to work, so that the tune is accurate. So a tuner who understands the logic will able to tune it.

For example, the def for MY13 STi is not offered in romraider. How a tuner gets ecuflash or romraider to work, will require a lil IT knowledge to get it working

What ecutek offers as mentioned, is also avail from open source.
RomRaider • View topic - Latest RomRaider ECU Definitions (v 0.8.3.1b 10-07-09)

Putting bias aside, Ecutek is still open source, but at the end of the day, ecutek offers an informed package for the end user as well as a complete software to the tuner who doesnt understand the logic behind open source.

So that's the difference.

Yeah OP go to ASG they have a very good tuner, the price is right and you probably wouldn't beable to tell the difference between Verso and Ecutek at the end of the day
