It will work the same as the others linked, it's just far more expensive. If you need it today, it will work.

boilerfeed 23-10-2014 01:03 PM
anyone know where i can get one local pick Perth?
Are you trying to diagnose the car or clear a code?

I've got an Ebay spec one that you can pick up and use/borrow if needed, I also have Torque setup on my phone so I can scan codes for you as well.

In Canning Vale until 15:30 or after 17:00 tonight, PM if you would like to take up this offer.

Edit: I also have a couple of the USB cable OBDII devices that run in conjunction with a PC, more than welcome to take one off my hands for free.

mytwrex 13-06-2015 06:56 PM

i brought one of ebay and it will not read my ecu
any ideas

dnbosiris 13-06-2015 08:37 PM

What model Wrx do you have

mytwrex 14-06-2015 06:24 AM

Its a 2005 GDA and im using torque pro on android

mytwrex 14-06-2015 03:57 PM

ok
so I brought what I thought was a Bluetooth OBD2 scantool of ebay for my 2005 wrx and I have the torque pro android app but it does not read my ECU ,but if I plug it into my Dads Toyota Camry which is OBD1 it reads straight away.
does this mean that my scan tool is only compatible with OBD1 compliant vehicles
I have since been given a credit from the store as I told them I did not work

dnbosiris 14-06-2015 04:01 PM

weird. i've used the cheap ebay obd2 bluetooth readers + torque app on both my STi's (02 and 06) and it worked fine.

mytwrex 14-06-2015 04:43 PM

Is it a case that the one i got is a little faulty or is it a obd1 reader
Do i buy another and see if thats works

using the Perth-WRX mobile app

dnbosiris 14-06-2015 05:52 PM

Will these bluetooth obd2 port readers work on a 1998 wrx impreza with stock ecu?

Wildslide 03-09-2015 08:38 AM

Short answer is no. Ive got a bit more complicated tool and that gives me the sane result on my 99 as my bluetooth one. Nothing. The port is there but Ive been told they didn't work untill the bugeye.

Cool what's that tool u got to read engine information? Is it same concept as bluetooth to a android phone app? Where did u get it from? Is it easy to install?

Wildslide 03-09-2015 10:46 PM

I was saying both my bluetooth android app one and my plug in hand held dont communicate with my 99 wrx. I've been told they don't comunicate until 2001/2002.

Can anyone tell me if they have had any luck using this on a 04 wrx. Tried a few others and you can connect to them but you get no info from them.

Cheers

Sneakynuts 19-05-2016 11:20 AM

I have a wifi one....

Ok I connect to a MY 15... you have to set the IP address in the connection to a static IP address that will be supplied by the manufacturer of the device

ZiN 31-07-2016 05:22 AM

For MY99 OBDKey works once put into SSM mode, torque only supports real time information in SSM mode not fault codes though. Haven't tried FreeSSM yet, but I'll do a full write up on how to get it working soon.

Holy thread revival Batboy!

Anyone found a scantool that will read ODB2 and pre-ODB?
My MY11 Liberty is ODB2 of course and I can read that with my current scantool.

My GC (2000 STi Version 6 ecu) ecu doesn't appear to be as my current scanner (below) wont work with it, yet it has the ODB2 plug.
The scanner claims to read all ecu's from '96 or newer using protocols SAE J1850 (VPW, PWM), ISO 9141-2 (ISO), ISO 14230 (KWP2000) and the newly released ISO 15765/SAE J2284 (Including CAN Protocol).

Want a scantool that will read both, or even just one that will read the GC.

Any ideas/suggestions?

ZiN 01-09-2016 04:41 PM

All ecu's from 96' if you're referring to US domestic market. 02' to 06' you'll get varies levels of support in OBD2. However if you get something that supports Subaru Select Monitor, you should be fine.

I recommend OBDKey, it'll work with your GC and should work with your Liberty. Email them first though to confirm.
