Reflecting these trends, the economy of the Rex enabled by its simplicity and compact size was expressed using the term “chibi-cology” (literally mini-ecology) and was appealing to customers. Here, we introduce an unusual “counting song” that helps evoke the feeling of the age. This “Subaru fuel saving counting song” was first printed on the back cover of the Rex catalog that was issued in February 1974. Still valid today, it expresses the secret of fuel saving driving with easy to remember phrases.
