Aps Unichip D15
Hey anyone know how good the unichip d15 is? or is there a lot of difference to the new ones? and will it defo work on a my01?
cheers  |
Why use an interceptor to fool an already more powerful standard ecu from doing its job properly?
Interceptors are for a better word useless! |
so what do u think i should use then?? my01 ecu is holding it back an iv read good things about the unichips?
|
reflash. ecutek or verso.
|
unichips are useless.. the stock ecu is excellent so just get it reflashed as mentioned. Verso from All Star Garage or Ecutek from not sure where
Why use an interceptor to fool an already more powerful standard ecu from doing its job properly?
Interceptors are for a better word useless!
ok but what if you cant tune the ecu, is a an interceptor a good option ? Say you just want to add mild boost increase and a/f changes? |
im running a blitz boost controller 16psi, induction kit, 3" x force turbo back exhaust.. aps have said a few thing about the my01 an they reckon to use interceptor or it just runs way too rich which its doing now. it instantly gave them a 30% power increase and also leaned the mixture for better running with the exhaust/filter/larger top mount intercooler.. im confused now...
|
it needs mapping though it may run rich on tick over but not at 7000rpm!!
like they are saying tek3 is fine although i would personally chase the hydra ecu everyone is raving about them at the moment...... |
have a squizz at these

Ok, i think this thread will have a few pages soon
First point Idiot's view of a unichip Unichip is an interceptor, it tricks the ECU by using the air, fuel mixtures. You're not actually editing the MAP as such, so the ECU is still running the factory settings. Not a smart thing to do given that there's a risk that it will go bang. A brand new chip will cost you $1500 supplied and tuned. For that $, why would you bother given that there better options around, e.g. reflashes (e.g Verso), Link (full replacement ECU). 2nd point There's limited tuners of unichip around Perth. Before you ask who tunes it, please go to the sticky thread where the tuners are shown under mechanical. Yes, there are two in Perth 3rd point Air flow ratio gauge, does jack shit. Its too late by the time its showing lean. Plus, its narrow band, which is not an accurate view of your mixtures 4th point Even with an electronic boost controller, you'd want to tune it on a dyno. Cranking up and down boost without properly checking AFR and knock is not smart. Long term it will end up bang again Do a search under ECU, Verso, ECUTEK, Motec, etc in the advanced seach and you'll find heap of info on this |
god that was a long read!!
some good points and some not so good points...... get it mapped and stay away from "chips" :) :) you gotta remember that chip they are advertiseing goes with all there own mods,so when it blows up with your mods you cant go back to them!!! having had 5 scoobys and being in various clubs and running my own club in the uk i dont know of anyone who chips a scooby rather than get it mapped when the mods are coming together and the mods you have now really need a map asap!! |
yer point taken i like his hair cut dont u???
|
yer point taken i like his hair cut dont u???
When Homer and Marge meet Bill Gates, Homer whispers quite loudly, "Check out the bowl job, Marge" LOL There's 2 of the 3 stooges. I'm afraid Davey if you buy that Unichip you'll be the third :D |
hahaha sweet look like i got i covered now! right who's the best to re map? went to all star couple of weeks ago an they gone north for a while.... so who to use?
|
they are back now.
|
SWEEEET nice bike chee can ya get ur knee down tho???
