Now Found Dead AFM for 99/00

I am after a dead AFM to fill the hole on my MY99. I know these die regularly so please throw your old dead one at me, it can be in any condition. Will collect if your within a reasonable distance of the City. :icon_pira

What on earth are you conjuring up now Morgan??

Well apart from my current engine build...my old perfectly good AFM hangs in the breeze so to speak for nothing. I would dearly love to hack a dead one up to tidy up the inlet tract for that 0.0001% air flow improvement. Whilst providing an OEM style parking spot for the old redundant cable that must remain disconnected for now.

Why don't you just get a plug for it..... E4LUTION had to do that to his AFM when he got his LINK...to keep it looking OEM...

I have heaps of dead afm's and they are physically identical to a wrx one (out of bmw's) but have a different plug. dont know if that helps but if you want one you can have it,

Hey Morgan, I have one which I never threw out (Just gotta find it in my bits cupboard)... will be in Perth Sunday onwards at the in-laws place in Huntingdale (same place you got the radiator this time last year) if you can wait that long and/or you are in the area.

Only kept it as it's not "dead" in the fullest sense, just played up a bit, cleaning didn't seem to help...

WhiteRX, I was looking at using the plug to park my old connector on. But thanks for the offer. Has anyone diagnosed why the Beemer ones go south? There is a lot of conjecture over the 99/00 items, ranging from heat, vibration to oil contamination. Most people don't have a clue first hand.

Westoz, we have to stop meeting like this. ;) Sounds like a plan, if you want to give us a call when your in town we can catch up again. Lots of new bits on "Max" for show and tell :D you have pm.

I am getting a plug for it, are you saying they have an off the shelf item? Not really worried about stealth, they only lift the bonnet for a sticky beak, your done well before then. Anyway, Max looks like butter would not melt in his mouth, until the harness, race tyres and race stickers go on...add in distinguished looking (grey haired middle aged) driver :p

Thanks guys, picking one up on Sunday from Westoz.

May have a buyer for the old one whilst we are at it. Great result, thanks to the forum!
