Default WTB: Late 04-06 STi No Mods

Well after making the wise decision not to drop $40k on a brand new 08 WRX, I have decided to use the money to buy a real WRX.

I am after a late 04-06 absolutely stock WRX STi.
I will allow some mods being wheels, turbo timer and possibly exhaust, but if there is anything more than that I am not interested. But a straight stocker is my preference.

Straight up, I have a budget of $40k, so I know I might be struggling to get an 06.

That said, I am also considering travelling east as they are easily in my price range there and with seemingly lower k's, but I thought I would try my luck here.

Send me a PM if you can help me out, if your car has slightly more modifications that I have listed as acceptable, send me a PM and let me know what they are and I will let you know if I am interested.

Thanks,

Emille

Definitely look for an 05 or 06. Stronger shafts, DCCD, bigger wheel bearings and a few other bits that the guru's would know about.

06 if you want grunt 05 if you want to be able to rev the tits off the thing.

You shouldn’t have any problems with that price range and I would recommend getting one over east. Just get it looked over and make sure it hasn’t gone back to stock and also taking a car over the pits and getting it freighted might make the car the same price as over here.

Good luck though

I would suggest reseaching your 'allowed mods list' a bit.

WRX's don't need turbo timers. Exhaust without a re-tune makes the car run richer and does not give any performance gains.

I would question a car with those mods more than a car with an exhaust and tune.

Yea what Kato said.

If it has never been touched it has probably also been serviced by Subaru ( Dealers Suck. Personal opinion ) and probably only at the recommended service intervals.

If it has been sensibly modded and maintained by a reputable shop the owner has probably been a little more anal about making sure everything is spot on.

Would prefer something that has been looked after and regular fresh fluids even if it has been driven a bit more enthusiastically than a shopping trolly.
