Parts to pass pits
 

Peoples,

I took the RA to the pits this morning to get my B-reg and the people there came up with a few nice things to get it passed.

1) Weighbridge ticket
2) Remove privacy tint off rear windows
3) Apparently the rear number plate lights dont work

Anyways they are not a big fan of R-spec tyres so I need some rims and tyres and also they stuck the noise checker thing up the exhaust and surprise suprise it was too loud so I need a standard GC8 exhaust aswell.

The car gets trucked to / from the pits so wear on tyres is non existent.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

There is still a provision for people who actually use their B reg cars for B reg purposes. The scheme was never intended to allow people (who never even held a CAMS license) to register cheap Jappo cars and sell them straight away.........:mad:

Brendon, I can't really understand their problem at the pits? Privacy glass isn't tint and cannot be removed. The ADR only mentions 'plastic film' therefore privacy glass doesn't have to comply. (unless your car has film?)

I have road legal rims and tyres, you're welcome to borrow them. Again, I cannot understand their logic, R specs are by definition 'road legal' race tyres???

Pits and logic do not go hand in hand, however you are at the mercy of the system no matter how backwards it is.

Yeah, it's an unusual situation. The whole idea behind the rally rego scheme was for cars that do not comply. The conditions on the rego clearly state that the vehicle is exepmpt from ADR compliance. They shouldn't even get the tint meter or the noise meter out. You're also exempt from having an immobiliser fitted as well, if they try that one on you too!

But when it's all said and done you can't argue with them, you just have to bend over and take whatever they say, rightly or wrongly. Last time I licensed a rally car that I'd put a lot of time, effort and money into the first thing they said was "So you think you're going to license this hey?" Coming at me with a hostile attitude. Even though it had been scrutineered and approved and I had everything in order, They prejudjed me based on having a modified car. ie; obviously I must be a hoon!

I got dudded when I got mine done. They made me pay an extra $50 for an immobiliser exemption. I also had to pay about $18 for each permit for non standard equipment(like roll cage, suspension, ECU and so on).

The $50 charge for immobiliser exemption is normal. I've never had to pay extra for anything else though. Usually a 'B' doesn't have a mod permit, it's open slather once you're under that class.

They hit me up for the immobiliser exemption aswell. I swear the thrid sentence out of his mouth was I hate this jap crap. He looked under the bonnet and asked his side kick where the chassis number was on the firewall. His sidekick said usually behind that bar (meaning the factory strut brace). I thought I would let him go trying to find it until he said to the offsider I dont know why they put the brace on I thik it has to come off so we can see the chassis number. I thought it best to point it out.

When he was too fat to fit in to take it for a drive said ofsider took it for a lap and he give it a good rev. The problem is that you cant say a thing and just have to cop whatever they come up with. All you really want is some consistency.
