I recently bought and fitted some of those myself for a GC8 MY99. (Y-pipe, rad hoses, etc)
If you do go ebay I recommend ASI Performance, but when you get the Ypipe and BOV return parts be aware that their 'GC8' listing doesn't have the right return pipe. (It's an L shape and the internal diameter seems too big, whereas we need a 'C'. I don't know whether the L is pre-99, or GDB, but I have one sitting on my desk I can't use) They're making up the right part for my car and they promised to take pics and list the Y-Pipe as an MY99/00 part - so, if you decide to order from them that's what you need to look out for.

hey Sayers
did the y-pipe and radiator hoses fit? it sucks that the bov return doesn't, how long has it been and have you got any feedback lately? i sent them a email to them, no reply, i asked if they did a silicone intake for the 99 with the extra afm bit to it, he has the 96/98 in this style only on his site... did you get silicone intake from him? thanking you for the reply... |

I don't have the silicone intake yet - I'm tempted, but I don't want to remove the manifold and I really don't want to cut the existing plastic intake to get it out. I've also heard about cheapo silicone ones deforming under load, although maybe they were fitted to some monster boosted engine which sucks in far more air than stock.
The Y-Pipe and intercooler joiner were fine, fitted easily without mods. The radiator hoses ... I've not fitted the two large ones yet because my coolant was only replaced last year and I didn't want to chuck it out and start again so soon. However, my radiator end tank split last Friday so I will do the hoses when I change the radiator over. They do look the right size with the right bends in. There were a few extra pipes included with the radiator hoses, which seem to be GDB-specific. (A couple of short thinner hoses with two bends in.) I've seen a pic of a GDB engine bay with those hoses visible, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to fit them on my car. Maybe dangle them from the rear-view mirror? The ASI bits and pieces do seem to skip the MY99/00, including the intake. I'm only guessing this, but maybe the 98 & earlier JDM STI was similar to the aus spec MY99 WRX in terms of the intake hose? I got the y-pipe some months ago now, so it's been ages. They're making up the new shape from my tech drawings, and I've been waiting for them to list something, anything, as 'MY99/00' instead of GC8. (My wife has the same car as me, so I told them I'd buy another y-pipe plus joiner and could they include TWO of the BOV return hoses - save them posting me a single one on its own.) I last heard from them yesterday so it's still ongoing as far as I'm concerned. They still haven't listed the new set for the MY99.

I think they just do a single set which covers most imprezas - saves them having multiple listings and keeping different bags of tubes in stock. The pic they show for the GC8 radiator tubes shows the extra bits.
I've read up on the silicone intakes but they don't seem to be required unless you have a bigger turbo, bigger intercooler etc. The stock pipe should be okay for an unmodified rex. I haven't even removed the snorkus from my car because I'm not fussed about a fractional gain in power. I wouldn't have bothered doing the ypipe either except it was a really simple job.

There was no way that L-shape was going to fit without putting a severe crease in it, and even then it was much too loose. (The inner diameter on mine is 28mm, the one they supplied is 32mm)
