i would go to evo r for a new afm. i paid 100 for a second hand one before evo r had started with the afm, how long it will last, i don't know. for not much more you can get a brand new one for peice of mind

Do a power steering flush (use dextron 3 atf) before writing the pump off.

Mine power assist wass dropping in and out & Shuddering/carrying on......A fluid flush sorted it.

Drop by and we do a quick diagnosis, could be an air leak or clogged pump.

Also, you sure it is the AFM?

I ended up getting a AFM & PSP from Japline & a P-Wrx member.

Ross - The old pump was very noisy even after a fluid flush.

Only problem is its still miss firing badly.

It has new spark plugs.
Just changed the Spark leads with no success.

I'm thinking the Crank Position Sensor is gone.

Mao - Any chance you have a CPS laying around ?
