EJ207 Suit rebuild
 

As title states I'm chasing an ej207 to suit a rebuild, bugeye onwards to get me some semi closed deck goodness!
Just thought I'd ask if anyone has anything, or knows of wreckers/shops that have something, before I start the ring around.

and have come up with 1 possibility...(though has big-end knock & a bit pricey)
Any of you guys know any other Subaru wreckers I could inquire at?

You would be insane to buy a busted one when brand new they can be had ~2k.

By the time you strip, buy whatever needs replacing, pay for machining... you will easily be at 2k plus

Yeah, i know you can get some VERY good deal on new 207 shorties, but I am hoping to pick one up + heads, that needs some work.

I have no immediate need for it, it's more that I want to rebuild one slowly at my own pace, for learning more than anything. My v3 STi is more than enough for me at the moment :)

You would want V3 or V4 STI heads as they are the best flowing of the early models. After V4 the bolt pattern for the intake changed so you would end up having to rewire most of the car.

i have a 207 you can have for cheap, only needs one piston & about 10 tubes of selleys knead it :cool:

seriously though, do what tj said, building a bottom end is not something you do for a learnign experence, mess one thing up & you've wasted thousands

v3 or v4 STi heads to bolt onto the 207?
These are better than the 207 heads?(noob question)

really?
i would of thought as long as it's not rooted, and you use a decent machine shop it would of been fairly straight forward...?

This is how it go's in my head- clean it up, sleeves, rods, piston's, studs, gaskets, pumps and hey presto your ready to bolt on the head that contains new cam, valves, seals, guides, retainers... throw 2 bar at it and have fun?

Yeah, it could be smooth but chances are there will always be 1 or 2 small niggling problems... or 1 big one :)
