WTD; TOOLS/Low hydraulic jack
Hey guys,
Haven't had any tools since living in Perth and I'm about to start up a project. Basically seeing if anyone has any advice on where to get or are selling some decent tools.. Is there any decent places to buy online? Or maybe some one here has a connection. Would just like a socket set, spanners, pliers etc. Kinchrome or maybe sidchrome would probably be alright? (correct me if wrong as I would like them to last) Also chasing a low hydraulic trolley style jack. Thanks in advance.

I use Kinchrome. Is pretty good value for money. I got my box a few years ago from Toolmart and they did a good deal.
Recently my largest flat blade screwdriver broke opening a paint tin. It took it in and it was replaced within a couple of days, no dramas.

Sidcrome say they are life time but you won't find someone that deals with the company directly kincrome good value for money, and are all garrenteed and will get replaced no dramas, but the best (but you pay for it) are always going to be snap on. I'm involved with my local snap on franchisee if you want to go that path, pm me.

Yo, thread revival.
Looking to get a low profile hydraulic jack for home use, to lift my betty, just for swapping wheels etc. It will probably get used 20-30 times a year. Anyone got any recommendations or more importantly ones to avoid. Cheers. Are these badboyz any good? Supercheap and cheerful! They sell for $250. Or should I spend a bit more for the something like the Kingchrome?

We have one that looks like that at work. I think its a different brand. But it literally looks identical. Probs same same, just different branding.
If its the same as what im thinking it is. Then its ok. Great value. But could be better. Pros - aluminium, so light compared to a steel jack, so great for portability etc. The overall lift hieght is pretty good. The length is a bit short, so can be a bit of a prick to get far into a low car. (Should be fine on your car). The loaded pump speed is pretty decent too. But the no load pump speed could be better even though it has the twin differential piston thingo. The wieght capacity is ok for cars. But no so good if you also have a heavy old 4wd or loaded vehicle like my work ute etc. But it should be perfect for the average passenger car and awd subaru. I cant comment on reliability yet, but i think it will be ok. Should give you a number of years before it eventually leaks out of wont pump or whatever. I have an older coventrys CGL jack (before they called it kromex or whatever it is now). And that thing is an absolute beast. It has great lift, great reach, great low profile. Good loaded pump speed. The no load pump speed is amazing. I can go from full down to full up in just 3 pumps! And its been bloody reliable. It isnt the heaviest capacity jack, but it does everything i need. Ive had it a number of years and its still going strong, and although i dont use it for trade use, i do use it ALOT and its been sweet. My only gripe is the steel body. The thing wieghs a metric fuk-ton. Its after using an aluminium jack and a steel jack that you realise how awesome the alloy ones are.

That kinchrome one looks tough. But it also wont be too good for you. Its steel so will be heavy. It bulges up quite thick at the back end. So although it starts off very low profile at the lift end, you wont beable to stick it that far under a car before the big fat lump at the handle end starts fouling. Being kinchrome, its probably over priced for what it is. But it should still be reliable.

If you can live with heavy steel construction. (Which i honestly would advise against) then something like this would be better than the kinchrome. Its prett much perfect in my opinion (for cars) apart from the steel body.
Kromex. 1,500kg Low Profile Trolley Jack - KLTJ1500LP Or get the high lift version if you think you will be doing work under the car. Getting a car up nice and high (with matching high axle stands) makes working under it so much easier than when its low down. http://www.kromex.com.au/kltj1500hl

I think I like the ali one too, it has the rubber pad which helps reduce slippage.
Cheers ears.
