Does anyone remember when the WRC was good?
WRC loses Nokia's multi-million pound deal - WRC news - AUTOSPORT.com
It just gets worse and worse - can see it folding in a year or two. The greats must be shaking their heads.

Unfortunately WRC has fallen almost as much as Nokia.
Hopefully a bit of a shake up internally will see it rise like HTC. At least there are a few more manufactures involved to some extent. (Also sad to see ARC going to 2WD only, but that's another thing.)

Is it really that bigger deal? £2.5 is a lot of money but considering citroen / ford / vw budget is ultra conservatively £50m ea it is not a massive deal.
I agree though that the series is on epic struggle street. Brendon

Bring back homologation and give the public a car that races to purchase ...

They wont have a series to spend 50 mill on if the series cant fund itself - its already been through two tv deals this year as well.

Quote:
WRC hasn't been the same since Group A was dropped. Maybe making a bold statement, however the WRX wouldn't have its cult status without Group A and the WRC (+ very talented drivers), probably wouldn't exist at all. Trouble with Group A (according to the manufacturers) was that it cost far too much money to develop a production car to take to top level rallying. Personally I think one of the big appeals of rallying was that anyone could walk into a show room and buy the production car that Ari Vatanen/Colin McRae/Carlos Sainz/*insert hero here drove at top level rallying. Couldn't do that with F1 or even V8 Supertaxis...
