Yet another Black Pig

MY06 Sti ( Black )

Performance and Reliability:
AVO450s
MMS 3in TBE ( Race Torque has added a hotdog to keep the mrs happy )
Silicon intake ( Race Torque branded but think it might be a samco )
Up pipe
Oil Catch Can
Hyperflow in tank surge can
ECUTek by Lane @ Race Torque.

Toys:
Alpine touch screen DVD with
-Garmin Nav Kit
-Ipod Kit
-Blue tooth phone kit

What I like:
As plain clothed as an STi gets. Only external change is the 3 in exhaust tip.

Good for a 12.3 @ 179 KP/h from very simple bolt on mods.

On a decent country drive car is just so easy to drive rapidly. On anything above 55 KP/h signs you rarely need to drop below 4th gear so are not flogging the hell out of it and still pulls like a train.

Did a run through the Balingup - Nannup rd 12 months ago ( Rapidly ) and a few other roads down there probably 100km of fun and still managed just over 10 lt/100km which is my usual cruise control country trip consumption.

What I Don't like:
Can get thirsty on really tight windy roads and round town.
Makes the Mrs car sick.
RE070's rather noisy but great performance.
Worry if I have to leave it anywhere.
Mrs gets told it is an awesome car. No body notices when I'm driving it
Prick to get into the garage ( tight 90 degree turn and turning circle of the QE2 Sux )

noice, im lovin all these pigs that are popping up!!

how much power and boost you getting out of stock internals?

MKVIGTI 29-06-2008 02:33 PM

Haven't quite cracked 200KW ATW on RT's Mainline but the Top Mount hurts it for numbers as it is getting NO air at all.

On the road it feels like a heap more and has been quicker down the drags than guys claiming bigger numbers with front mounts.

Running just a smidge over 17 Psi

Driver skill can play a significant part.

Don't suppose you have a dyno graph with the Avo 450s?? looking at getting one myself...

Zombee 26-10-2008 07:15 PM

Awesome... love the pig's

I'm interested in your turbo setup mate. I have pretty much the same as you, black pig STi, 3" RMS zorst and up-pipe, RT silicon pipe and EcuTek and wouldn't mind looking at changing the turbo. Dont want to go to town on the motor yet, just want a bit more shove in the back :D , but done so the motors not a hand grenade.

How much did the turbo set you back, and what's it like?, is it all top end, or is it a more street-wise turbo?

PM if you want mate.

oh, yeah - the run through the balingup to pemberton area is awesome, done it a few times myself :D

Cheers
Zombee:)

Sorry on the graphs never got the graphs of the AVO450s tunes out of Lane but it did get quicker. It just wouldn't deliver a peak figure for some reason so never bothered. Didn't realize it was so much better till I ran it at the plex and got a 12.5 first run with it.

As for drivability it starts to pull really hard from about 3700 and is pretty linear all the way to redline. I shift between 5 & 6 though as it is just as quick in the next gear and not as hard on it.

I am only running a little over 17 PSI so could go a fair bit more (with a front mount ) but we tried a bigger top mount and didn't gain anything worthwhile cos the temps started to go up with the Top mount. Last time I saw Lane he had come the the conclusion headers were the big restriction on them.

Think off the top of my head it was around $2400 but that was a while ago.

Very happy with performance and not planing any more go fast bits. Much nicer to drive to. If you drive it properly when you are shuffeling it is very easy to be on boost all the time ( without reving the ring out of it ) but you can hold a gear and still pull like a train. Has smoothed out the nothing nothing smack you in the back of the head then nothing power delivery it had with the exhaust and VF43 but still pulls better just about everywhere.

If your really serious about getting one drop us a PM and I'll take you for a spin. Sorry I'm driving!!!
