Ahh me dak dak V2

Hi, my names TJ, and some of you might remember quite some while ago I used to drive a performance car. I also like long walks on the beach, Kato's cuddles and secret late night meetings with MMS to tell them what Ramons been posting on the forum.

While on holiday on QLD I decided enough was enough, time to have something half decent to drive again.

Now my name isnt JME/Ballsac/etc so it need to be budget. Then I had to factor in what I liked more... skids or handling/epic launches/helis. While doing skids were always fun , in todays hoon infested society I figured I dont need the hassle of hoon laws etc, and enjoyed the later, so 4wd was the way to go. So then I thought about it some more.. and figured I wanted another Liberty. Despite the utter and absolute headfucks with mine... I actually deep down loved it. A few here can attest that it actually went pretty damn hard when it was running right... so like maybe 4 or 5 times in 2 years? Doh!

Then this came up -

And yes, its Adams old car.

So lets talk turkey -

91 Liberty conversion - 4wd Turbo
TD05 Turbo
Turbo back 3 inch exhaust
FMIC
Bosch 040
4 pot brakes
02 Sti rims
Strut bar up front, thicker sway bars (thicker then my old ones too) and WRX struts and coils.
HID's (8000k)
Decent stereo (i dont want the subs or amp so be for sale soon I guess)
I know tj sticker
Few other bits and pieces.

So thats the good.

The bad -
Popped donk (small issue you know)
Paint is shit (I dont give two fucks normally, but its actually beyond what Id even allow)

So why did I buy a car with a blown motor and shit paint? Well, its got 6 months of rego - good start. It also has 20 pages of paper work from the DPI and permits for all mods including turbo swap. With this new laws about conversions etc, and the memories of huge headaches to get the last car regoed, this was a massive plus for me. The dollar cost in getting that done to a converted Liberty if I had done my own would be massive. Plus it was a bargain when you add up the value of all the bits in the car.

So obviously, the plan is some paint, a donk, and to get back out there and enjoy some cruising again. Stock ecu/boost/injectors/etc for a while just to take some baby steps for now. This one has full air con, electric windows, sunroof, while my old one didnt have any of that. Whether they stay remains to be seen - weight reduction is free and helps all aspects of performance.

Really excited about having something to play with. Like I said, its been a while. Expect to see it out and about around mid year.

Thanks for reading my joe spec essay on my new dak dak. May your big ends be unrattling and gearsets intact my fellow dakdakians!

Nice work TJ. Love the "im not JME or Ballsac" call. I too have a budget so know where your comin from. Look forward to hearing progress. What plans for the engine do you have?

Terry.Wrist 24-03-2009 12:29 PM

Eagerly awaiting progress on this thing

Cheap early model bottom end/complete motor to get it running.

Doesnt need to be a Jun 2.2, its not going to be copping massive boost or abuse.

Once the car is cleaned up and a few other bits are done - ie coilovers hd links V5/6 sti seats (these had some but i dont fit well in a sunroofed liberty with 05 seats and im sure adams had sexual relations with another man on them) some gayges, then Ill look for power.

As long as I can throw it in into a corner it will do for now.
