He and his brothers practically introduced Hang Gliding to the UK in the early 70's. They set up a successful company and their gliders won many competitions. They also formed the NHGA (National Hang Gliding Association.)
I still have a bunch of old newsletters from the era, plus the how-to handbook (Dummies Guide?) my dad wrote and published. When I was five or six my job was to gather up all the orders from the doormat, count them and then sort by countries.
(Unlike here, in the UK the postie comes to the door and pushes the mail through. I guess it's because it's raining half the time, so a mailbox just wouldn't work.)
