More RS Wagon Love..
After having sold the old one; I bought another.
Not a genuine RS. But rather an AWD GX Wagon which has been converted. I've had it since August 2010. Still needs a bit of work but it's getting there very slowly. Thankfully; cosmetically - it's brilliant (despite 172,xxx kms on the Chassis). The main mission for this is to keep it as inconspicuous as possible. Having a less aggressive front end and no hood scoop makes this Liberty even more sleeper than a genuine RS :) Mod list below; but a v2/v3 donk will be getting dropped in when I'm able. A few cosmetic tweaks - looking at a legacy front bar; but will be keeping the GX hood - but will be looking at a blacked out flipped FMIC setup fairly shortly; which I hope will coincide with a new motor if I can source one! It was last dynoed at ASG after the Profec B was installed by the previous owner - supposedly made 195awhp @ 13psi on the HUB dyno (that was with the VF8). Since I fit the TD05-16G from a '96 AUDM WRX; it pulls alot harder all the way through the rev range; and indefinately given it a few more horsepower (or so I hope)! Very tidy wagon you got there mate. Look forward to seeing it sometime.
|
Shit man thats actually really neat.
|
yeah thats tidy... I have always had a soft spot for RS wagons.
|
Really needs a Regashi front bar but :(
I'll get some more happy snaps when I source, paint + fit one! |
nice wags mate, looks well straight  nice mod list also:)
|
Nice man.
All it needs is the Legacy front bar. But keep the GX bonnet. It adds to the sleeper effect. If getting a Gen 1 Series 1 RS front bar is hard. You could always convert your front end to Gen1 Series2. You can still buy the G1S2 RS front bumber skins new. |
^^^ It's not impossible, but not as easy as you think. The radiator support panel is different between S1 and S2.

This is my old Lib! I bought as a standard GX Touring wagon with stuffed airbag suspension as a wholesale car when I worked at Ossy Park Suby. I did the conversion and fitted standard struts with lowered springs. Good to see its still going strong. Had a lot of work done to it since I owned it though.
I bought the front cut from JWS, and modified a wrx exhaust, which looks like its been replaced with a proper 3" system. She's obviously had a couple of owners since I had her. I did the conversion in my driveway in 2 weekends, your right about the body, she is in great nick for an old girl. Nice car mate! |

I bought it off Pat, apparently there's only been one owner in between us. He had replaced the 3" TBE system and added the electronic boost controller - i've done all the rest of the work. He also informed me that he's put another gearbox in it. Unfortunately I've just chipped the paint on the driver's side quarter yesterday, which I'm pretty emo about :( She'll be getting a v2 sti donk very shortly, that's if i don't sell it. You've done an awesome job on the conversion mate. Very tidy from what I've seen. So kudos to you. |
