My Dak Dak History - Now with update

So to the many many users on here who must think ""who the fuck is this moron tj dribbling shit all day on the forums" ... Well a little history behind the man behind the forum name.

In 2003 I helped start a small place called Antilag.com. It exposed me to many awesome people, and many awesome cars. At the time I was a struggling uni student so owned a Vn.. V6 (cheeyahhhh boi). Was really neat, blow a motor doing ~210 kmh.. rebuilt it with forged internals.. went bloody well. Then it smashed a gearbox (who woulda known what a sign that was at the time!) So I bit the bullet and bought this sight unseen from Melbourne..

R31 - RB25 Manual. Japanese front end conversion and rear lights, custom paint colour. Cooler zorst etc. Did lots of skids (the sticky tape on the bonnet was due to the a workshop fitting my cooler on a Friday morning before a weekend down south.. only to find they had cut the bonnet latch support and the bonnet would move around at 160 plus) Got yellowed for racing in the tunnel etc etc

Sold it to a p plater, wrote it off two weeks later.

Then came a R32 4 Door. No pics - I hated that car. Too small for me, RB20 was gutless compared to a 25. Handled really well. Did lots of skids.

Sold it to a friend who then turned it into a VQ powered 10 second monster. Awesome car now. Would sell a kidney for it as is

Then came this

MX83 Cressida - rare factory black (only 100 in the world) converted to 1JZ and R154 Manual. 300 rwhp, stock brakes... But it was so much fun. Layed EPIC skids with its TRD LSD, shamed many a high priced car and was just an awesome sleepr bar the 3 inch HKS zorst with no mufflers cats or resonators..

Blew a turbo up chasing 300kmh on Xmas Eve morning if it makes sense.. turbo also went through the motor. 10 weeks it took a local importer to sort things out after selling me a dud motor the first time. Came down to a friendly "give me a motor this week or im going to kill you"

The anger, stress and drama of it all caused me to make a regrettable decision.. and I sold it. I still miss that car badly.

So what the fuck has this got to do with Subaru....

Finally, Subaru 1

1992 LX Liberty

Bought as ''ex show car'' with gold dash... and a hole cut in it for the motec.. along with bonnet gauges and a whole heap of other stupid shit.

3 months later it was regoed after fundamentally throwing a bribe to get it done. Stupid fucker at the pits said it need engineering when it didnt...

Anyhow... it had fruit. VF30, motec, zorst, fmic, sti interior and all the other little niggly stuff. Stiffest JIC coilovers ever, which made it a scary but fun drive, very little weight after I ripped out the aircon, whatever interior I could etc. 200kw @ all 4 and 1260kg made it fun. Lots of fun. Was truly mega off the line, loved chopping evos and gtrs in it.

But I was not Subi trained. I drove it like a RWD car with massive gearbox... this didnt work. Took me 5 boxes to learn my lesson.

Also was very agressive on the tune. This cost me 2 motors.

Broke a diff or 2, sheared a hub or two. Crashed it at high speed, massive massive life lesson.

Was insured for 15k, should have torched it. Instead it got yellowed, and did a big end, so I stripped it for parts... and walked away from cars. Jan 2008.

But the passion was still there.. so in 09 this came about

1991 Heritage, bought it cheap with a rooted motor. Had 4 pots, TD05, fmic, zorst etc. Went pretty well - made 220 @ all 4 on 13psi.

Didnt thrash it... still broke a gearbox. Sold it way too cheap in a rash decision. Went to rstay from here, who then used it to combine it with his wagon to make a good bit of gear.

Lost my license. Rolled in baller style in a green merc for 6 months.

Then came this

Jzx100. The most soul less boring car Ive owned. Dont get me wrong, I wanted one forever, a dream car. Within 3 months I hated it. Cooler zorst ecu and boost - and it still felt slow even if it wasnt.

Did awesome skids... not as good as the Cressida but it has no issues blowing tyres up.

Sold it last Monday.

So what to buy....

I wanted something fun, but not wallet killing as Im trying to sort my debts out and get ahead.

Car is pretty damn clean for its age.

Plans
6 speed
Mild power setup
4 pots
Powder coat wheels black I dare say
Clean paint up a little
Enjoy it.

As someone awesome said the other week - once you go dak, you dont go back.

P.S Massive thanks to Mister Two aka Ludwig for his help. Drove me out to see the car and inspected it.

So you're the guy leaving all the black marks up at the mundaring weir carpark. ;) I wonder when you will install the 6 speed. Maybe MrTwo can get his hands on a few more and do us a deal.

REXXXED 23-03-2011 09:16 PM

Nice write up and nice RS :)

I don't know TJ, but i know those rims and the 60% of the tyres that are used. They dont clear brembos

mARC 23-03-2011 09:23 PM

Cool story bro 'for real', are they Ultrex rims on the Lib?

Mister Two 23-03-2011 09:24 PM

fix that FMIC pipe rubbing on the wastegate arm...

smash on a wrx td05 @ 17psi...

easy on the gearbox until the 6 speed goes in. :)

Good times are ahead.

No problem since I have no intention of fitting brembos to it.
Cool story bro 'for real', are they Ultrex rims on the Lib?
Unsure - they are not labelled as Ultrex rather some obscure Jap brand.

jasonmurray 23-03-2011 09:30 PM

I cant believe TJ actually took the time to finally write up his life story... CSB! haha jks big fella.

Congrats on the new purchase. Pls dont wreck this one :D

American Dave 23-03-2011 09:40 PM
