Not much to update except for further delays...

My engine arrived last Wednesday so I was going to drop my car off at STechnic on the Friday for the motor to be dropped in. Unfortunately by the time that would have been finished, Jamie @ Tokyo Motorsports will have gone on holidays. Car is booked in for dyno run-in and boost limited tune for November 16th. In the mean time I'll drop parts over the STechnic so they can dress the engine, then November 5 I will get the car towed there.

Last week I wrapped my headers and today I sprayed them with a high heat coating (recommended by the header wrap manufacturer). Supposedly helps to protect them from minor abrasions and liquid spills.

If you want to protect the header wrap from abrasions and fluid spills. (And from falling apart in 2 years time) you should look at DCI Sheet Hot.

My last lot was some no-name brand wrap applied with no coating and lasted me 4 years, so fingers crossed. Cheers Bram, have noted that stuff down for future reference.

If those big lumpy things are infact battery terminals, they look like utter crap. (From an auto electricians perspective) I am not really a fan of any type of electrical connection where the wire is clamped down with grub screws. Well least not ones that carry high load like starter motor etc. All it does is give shit connections and cause the individual wire strands to snap off.

The battery hold down is cool though.

Ring terminals look shitter. It's only going to be used for the amplifier power, tiny 12 or 16 gauge lines that feed the dash cam and sound processor, and the grounding. I've always tinned the end of the cables lightly when installing amplifiers which draw high current and only have a grub screw to secure them. Haven't had a problem with them before and have never seen any problems with cars that have stupid amounts of audio and draw on their systems.

I was going to try keep the starter cable as is with the ring terminal as there's not much cable length to play with if chopping it for a new connection. If it can't be accommodated with ease I will stick to the shitty red plastic cover on the positive side and just used the new terminal on the negative terminal only.

Craig, sorry to say, your wasted your money on those battery clamps.

They do not last, the cast 'whatever-the-fuck-metal-they-decided-on-the-day' terminals break their threads if you show any form of torque. That and they arent crimped, screwing a grub screw into just abit of generic bit of amp wiring...totally useless.

just trying to help xox
