Hmm, decisions decisions, will have to look into that, thanks!

Shit Tony, I was. Not now though! Thanks for that.
keep the OEM BBS wheels
Yeah, they are nice and soooo light :)
Butler down pipe along with the the Q300 CBE and get it tuned with the CAI + TBE as a whole

rally armor flaps
lol, I saw the pain Kym keeps taking for his! But mine are stealth black ones ;)

T R3X 18-06-2012 06:22 PM

I was told that the MY11+ doesn't need the endlinks since the stock ones are well and truely sufficient. Apparently they are only needed for the older models as their endlinks are made of plastic and are much weaker.
I would exercise caution if you are looking at using the KLC166 HD rear end links.
huggy_b 18-06-2012 06:26 PM

Ask your insurance company if they are happy for you to run spacers Jamie......my guess would be no.

If you do go for rotas to improve your "stance", keep the BBS rims and flip your stock tires onto them. If its too much money, stick with the BBS rims IMO....as Shane said, you'd be crazy to sell off the stockies.

STIMUL8IN 18-06-2012 06:27 PM
too many examples of them being extremely unsafe
Cheers Sharpy, do you know if those examples were hub-centric versions, or just flat flanges?

I get all the arguments for and against, but I'd think the clamping/friction forces you could get on the faces would be greater than the torque under braking? I need to work it all out...

ALLPAWS 18-06-2012 06:30 PM

I need to get some proper nice pics of my toys, great to bore the grandkids in 40 odd years time when they r riding hover boards . . .

I guess insurance wouldn't like the CAI, CBE and everything else either, so I'd rather put my faith in engineering ;) ...and yeah, those BBSs would be staying in my sweaty hands if I do decide to remove them.

Wasn't what I heard when I spoke to John at Wheels World about them.
Then again I only had the car for a couple of months before they were upgraded, so at that point in time there wasn't much information at hand on what had actually been changed for the MY11 models.

To be honest I don't. Going on your clamping/friction argument - you would need to make sure that every time you put your nuts on you use a torque wrench to get them correct and even, wouldn't you? could get annoying maybe

I don't have first hand experience with them, purely going off what I have been told or read.

that is apparently with 25mm spacers

Ok then, well that was what I was told when i asked for a pricing of whiteline sway bars and endlinks from Mao.. He told me don't get endlinks for MY11+ for the reason that they do nothing more than standard ones.

Soksta 18-06-2012 08:03 PM

Besides break :D

Kato 19-06-2012 10:19 AM

Re the spacers:

Think of the extra moment being placed on the studs by having the 25mm spacer in there.

That is what kills them.

From what I have been told, your insurance may be void and the cops will yellow you for having them.

Also, insurance companies have no issues with CAI or CBE. Best to inform them rather than not and having a problem later down the track.

I'll post up a DIY hard-wire install if you are interested, but I'm sure you are capable :)

Looks awesome Jamie! Did you do the ti logo on the IC or did you get someone to do it? Looking at doing the handbrake nav fix. Again all you or I'd you go somewhere?

Thanks! Yeah I did the logo & the handbrake hack myself.

Logo was easy, just go to Office Works, or similar, & buy an A4 adhesive label. Then print out the STI logo on it, cut that out with a sharp knife & stick it in place. I then covered the ENTIRE front end in news paper to prevent any overspray & put about 3-4 coats of red high temp engine paint on. Wait for it to dry a bit, but not too much, then peel everything off :)

The handbrake hack was a bit trickier, but there are some links with all the instructions somewhere. I'll add them here when I get to my computer, as doing it from iPhone + Tapacrappa sucks arse!

Ok, that was harder than I thought!

Attempted to fit the Ultrex TBE today, but gave up while trying to get the heat shield off. I rang Allstars where it's booked in for a tune tomorrow and after they said I'd need to get the TMIC off to get access, I decided I'd had enough:confused:

Thankfully, the kind fellows at Allstars said they would gladly finish off my TBE for me before they do the tune. So, for now, it's just a CBE and it sounds great!:)

Can't wait to see the curves tomorrow:D

Drewski 30-08-2012 06:52 PM

Sounds exciting! Jealous!

STIMUL8IN 31-08-2012 05:36 PM

How good is ASG? Bloody awesome!

Sean couldn't do the Process West CAI today, but apparently every one he's tried to date has been a problem, so he's offered to make my car a test vehicle and try again with the CAI once he's had a play with the technical stuff. So hopefully I'll get the WOOOSSHHH-TIISSSHHHH in a couple more weeks :D

But today they finished off my TBE and put the stock intake back on...and of course worked their magic on the curves...

TheDoctor 31-08-2012 05:52 PM

Nice curves Jamie. Hope all goes well with your CAI.

Got to see your car on the dyno today, Sean was explaining the complexity of the tables and how it all links together.

Super impressive!

STIMUL8IN 31-08-2012 06:27 PM

Glad you liked it :) Yeah, Sean tried to explain it all to me too when I picked it up, but most of it went well over my head! Anyway, sounds good and pulls even harder now :D

The verdict is in from the wife too - she's not impressed and reckons it now sounds like a "cheap-sounding bogan-wagon" lol!

Got the car back from the repairers yesterday, so spent the day washing and polishing and giving her some much needed TLC. It would have been rude not to take some photos :)

Since last time, I've installed the HT Auto lip kit all round...

Happy with how the wheels look now too. Not going to bother lowering it, it already scrapes on the rears and don't want it any stiffer than it already is. So that means I'm done modding! Apart from getting the CAI to work that is :D

What sub/amp did you install? Saw you mention it in another thread but didnt see it in here (or am i blind?)

I have the factory sat nav too, want to keep it but want to upgrade the speakers/sub. Was thinking Focal BUS25 if I can find one for a decent price.

Love the car btw.

I got Alberts Joondalup to do mine, went with their recommendation. It was all Alpine stuff, a 12" SWS-12D2 (or D4 not sure) sub and MRX-F35 4 channel amp.

Had to turn down the gain a bit from Alberts settings as the phone call volume and button press beeps were too loud (no frickin adjustment on the head unit!).

Totally transformed the sound (stock speakers), and had to then stop the rear numberplate from rattling! lol

DZENCI 27-10-2012 12:58 PM

Very nice. The first pic would be even better if it had coilovers and a bit of camber for a even greater look, would set it off.
