I like the skirts also, but I'm biased because I have them on the Betty. For me, just a lip looks strange without additional black trim following the sides and rear of the car.
ImPreSiV, Top-Deck and T R3X like this.

I agree, for the same reason, bias... I love the addition the side lip kit made to my car

Scary - did you upgrade the boost controller to a 3 point? If no, do you think it will help control boost better at lower level due to greater resolution?

To a 3 port yes, I guess it also has 3 points.
And yes as the least the turbo will make is 16psi - ie the wastegate can't bleed off enough to run less than 16psi

ok so as you can all see from the Battle of the Barges thread Dak Dak is now Dok Dok.

So I have been running through a few thoughts in my head and seeing as I have not built an engine in over 6 years I thought I would throw it out to the crowd for opinions.

End goal - new motor that will take 22 - 24psi from current turbo.

Option 1 - EJ257 long motor Pros = dual AVCS heads Cons = Shit pistons and rods, possible wiring issues going to later spec motor

Option 2 - EJ257 short block with pistons and rods and put it all back together Pros = Stronger Cons = find someone to build short motor that will hold together, labour cost to build long motor and me trying to resist upgrading everything along the way

Option 3 - Buy short motor from US with known quantity Pros = some higher level of build quality (maybe) Cons = cost, cost to assemble, freight etc, no recourse when it shits itself (not that there is much in perth either)

So what are the thoughts of the crowd in general?

Where should I start looking in the US for a short block?

what specs are the current go for a short block?

And if I go a bit silly what work in the top end and by who including head work , Cams etc.

Lets try and stay away from the "257's are shit" carry on please. It is highly unlikely to get a 207 bottom end or long motor and I do not want to run aftermarket ECU as I think the ECUTek and std ECU are more than up to the task for what is 95% driven 10km to the office and back each day.

aaaaaaand go

Just drop another factory EJ257 in? For the amount of motorsport you do, I don't see the point in a fancy built motor
teejay and magic1 like this.
