Looks so good mate!

RoughStilin 13-08-2012 05:31 PM

Cheers Russ. It's been a long time in the making, buts it's now all coming together. Still have to work out my fuel system, but to say I'm excited is an understatement.

Spektre 13-08-2012 06:53 PM

Can you possibly do a write up about how cam timing was done?

Interested

You're achieving what many talk about - be over the moon. You deserve it.

Is this supposed to sound like eBay feedback Burke?
Is this supposed to sound like eBay feedback Burke?
Yep.

I thought it would be a good idea for any new guys that come on here so they don't waste any time reading about crap Perth drivers or mudflaps.

RoughStilin 14-08-2012 09:31 AM

Mudflaps were going to be my next mod though, along with a set of chrome wheels.

So we got busy yesterday arvo & pulled out the old motor. I was quite amazed at how much oil was sloshing around in the intercooler pipework & headers.

I am very glad to say the old motor is now finally out :) Hopefully the new motor will go in this weekend. Its all ready to be dropped in now :)

Was going to be the motor ment for the STi?

RUSSGT 21-08-2012 03:40 PM

Stuff yeah!

RoughStilin 21-08-2012 03:52 PM
Was going to be the motor ment for the STi?
Nope, I have used a couple of parts though that I initially purchased for the 2.35 build. Nothing I can't pull off this motor & swap over once the 2.35 is built. though.

Strubaru 21-08-2012 06:07 PM

Nice, looking pretty good to go

RoughStilin 30-08-2012 06:06 AM

Engine is in. Ancillaries have almost all been bolted up. A few braided lines need to be completed today for the fuel lines & IACV hose. I need to mount the fuel filter & the oil cooler. The bulk of work has been done though. A huge thanks to Geoff & Paul, Neil & Matt for all your help & support when completing this. Its so close now though hopefully in the next 48 - 72 hours I will be turning the key & trying to get those 2000cc injectors to idle correctly. Lots more to do though.........

I thought I would make up a bit of a list for those interested, as to what has been done to the engine on this build & what is holding it all together.

EJ20 closed deck block (standard bore, with hone)
Standard EJ20 crank (oil phased by knight engines)
STI rods with ARP bolts
CP forged pistons (92.0mm)
Ported #11 oil pump
HKS oil cooler
ACL race bearings
ARP case bolts
Cusco engine mounts

Killer B sump kit, including windage tray & pick up

STI - Spec C heads
Cleaned & heavily ported internals
Standard valves, springs, retainers....
AVCS blocked off
Standard Spec C cams
Vernier cam wheels
Cams timed correctly
ARP head studs

Version 8 inlet manifold (match porthed to TGV assembly)
TGV's deleted & ported
Aeromotive fuel rails
Aeromotive fuel reg
Teflon braided lines
Fuel lab fuel filter (including a 6 micron filter for E85)
Injector Dynamics 2000cc injectors

Kinugawa TD06 60-1 turbo
Silicone inlet
Equal length headers

Monsta performance front mount

Power FC ECU

good luck getting 2k'cc injectors to idle! :)

RoughStilin 30-08-2012 06:51 AM

Cheers Stace..... I have a cunning plan though.

Master D 30-08-2012 07:07 AM

Antilag style of idle?

#makeschickswet

RoughStilin 30-08-2012 07:43 AM

Theres nothing wrong with a 5500 rpm idle. Right?

RUSSGT 30-08-2012 07:50 AM

Wicked! Such an awesome engine.

What are your plans for tyres etc? How wide are you going to run?

RoughStilin 30-08-2012 08:01 AM

I have not 100% decided on tyres yet, but I have narrowed it down to either Hankook Z214 or Z221. The first being pretty much a slick & the second being more of a semi. One of my mates is getting a set of the Z221 so I will wait to see what he has to say about them. Size wise will be 275 / 40 /17 on 9.5" rim.

Kato 30-08-2012 08:07 AM

Should rip a nice skid! Top stuff.

Yeah I been looking at those tyres too. Will prob go the Z214 in a 245.

Are you going to run massive flares?

XT43 30-08-2012 08:49 AM

So much win!

Yeah I am Russ. S13 flares 7cm wide

RUSSGT 30-08-2012 09:50 AM

Wicked!

Gonna beef up your wheel bearing? Like go 114.3?

Riggs 30-08-2012 09:52 AM

This has become a very comprehensive setup! Great to see!

TheDoctor 30-08-2012 09:53 AM
Yeah I am Russ. S13 flares 7cm wide
Nice, they're the same flares I wanna run when I eventually get wider rims and tyres.

I know I probably should, be to be honest Russ it's not on the cards at the moment. I will more than likely throw 4 new bearings in the hubs though.

RUSSGT 30-08-2012 11:12 AM

That the thing. Just replace when and if they die.

Mate upgrade those hubs hey. You just gotta do it. Just go better and stronger.
I had some shitty weak hubs and they just blew out like a chick's giggity area does after giving birth. Just blew out the entire region.
#XT43 #kid #Cinaber (we four were having a laugh about upgrading hubs after the recent MC Motorsport State Sprint round).

But seriously, this is looking to be a bit of a beast Simon. And one of perth rex's first (known) S13 bolt-on flair function-over-form jobs.
A lick of paint when its all done and then you're gonna be a presence!

forde 30-08-2012 07:47 PM

Looking awesome simon! Don't forget to do a write up on the install of the flares when you do it so I've got something to follow when i do mine.

Hubs are not on the cards at the moment. I know a couple of track cars over east running wide tyres with the 100 hubs & not had an issue Alex.

I will get the wheels and tyres & see how I go for now I think, I would be lucky to do 1 event per month at the moment, which would have an huge impact on how quickly they wear.

Cheers for the comments though on the car, it has come a long way in the last 8 months since I have owned it. There is lots more to come though, hopefully some driver training too, so I can learn how to drive properly, so I am not just a presence :)

Will do Anthony, well maybe not a complete write up, but there will be photos and a brief description. If you need pointers when you do come to do them, just PM or call me.

Hope all is well with you mate :)

I have told you a few times now

you measure curtains in CM, its 70mm ! :la:

RoughStilin 31-08-2012 12:24 AM

MM is a great measurement for accuracy. Try it on your penis next time. The massive one you have on your head. You will see CM is a good measurement.......
