Who's to say your second hand GC8 you just threw $7.5-10k at won't do a main bearing a week after you buy it?

Cat, as the others have said, converting an RX to a WRX is pointless, especially the price of GC8's these days. But you have your heart set on doing it, so see it through. I would speak to people like Corrie (GXREX) he's done it all before, so he can walk you through most of it, and also, he has a shedload of spare parts should you require something obscure.

Good on you for sticking with it... I look forward to seeing it when it's done. I just hope it's worth it to you

^^^ this Cat.

That sentence there is the reason everyone chimes in. Not because we think you can't or won't.

Look forward to seeing you at the front of a cruise.

Whats to say your "mint halfcut" from japan actually doesnt have 400 000km and spins a bearing 30 min after you fire it up?

To get the entire car to a decent standard is going to be a 20k game. Thats 04 sti money!

If it was me, and i wish it was kinda to have a light gc8. I would do this.

Buy as late a model jdm sti full cut as you can get. IE 05 sti. Then chuck everything into your car. If you get a GC8 cut it would be absolutely pointless. GC8 cuts are OLD and wont be very good at all. Still have 5 speeds, wrx brakes, small hubs etc...

This would be $20k though so again probably pointless unless you really want late model STI stuff in a gc8 shell. (Like what i do)

Late model sti will fit with its new loom etc and dash. Would be WAY better than any rubbish GC8 conversion.
STI325V6, Strubaru, kid and 1 others like this.

No one.
Partly why I suggested buying one for 5k.
Heck, there's even a few 97's for less than 4k around at the moment.
Even with a 207 transplant you're still at least $10,000 better off than you would be if you did a conversion.
$10,000 is a Power FC, vf34-P20, headers, exhaust, the whole whiteline catalogue, 99 4 pots and more...

Fairly sure reason and sense has gone out the window in this thread as she "just wants too". Which is fine as its her money and her choice.
