Scooby2 - JDM Spec Forester

Hi guys,

Been floating around Perth-wrx for a long time now and thought id give an update so people know what im driving these days. Also some pics of my old wrx's that one or two people may remember.

This was my first Wrx.... Version 1 Jap Import Sti.

Gave it a few bolt on mods but nothing major to the engine.

Unfortunately i had a bad accident and ended up with a write off.

Went without a car for a while with moving to Australia and eventually bought a 1999 Wrx in Wrc Blue.

Bought it like this

And after finishing the mods and styling it was this just before i sold it. I believe it is owned by another member these days.

So after this i needed something a bit larger but was still able to give the same buzz as the Impreza.

This is when i found OzFoz and started the search for a SG9 as this is the shape i really could only afford at the time. So i managed to find this one.

Bought it like this from a member on OzFoz.

Now after sourcing various JDM parts over the last two years it now stands like this..

scoobywes 01-04-2013 01:27 AM

She does go pretty hard... Im doing a re-tune on Tuesday so will post the results.

Strubaru 01-04-2013 09:48 AM

muggz 01-04-2013 09:53 AM

Looks like Liams old ride!
Good to see WA sporting some nice foz love :)

Simon 01-04-2013 10:43 AM

Loving the quad headlight conversion on your second Rex, and that Forester is pure porn!

I thought Liam's was like my old one? With the square headlights, 03-05 version? I'm pretty sure anyway.

scoobywes 01-04-2013 11:27 AM

Was owned by Gonzo on the OzFoz forum. Purchased in Rockingham.

muggz 01-04-2013 01:01 PM

Ah yeah makes sense

stoff 01-04-2013 01:11 PM

BXT's old car I think. He's got a driveway thread on here if you want to know a bit more history on it.

Strubaru 01-04-2013 01:26 PM

ah yes, johns old car

scoobywes 01-04-2013 01:45 PM
BXT's old car I think. He's got a driveway thread on here if you want to know a bit more history on it.
Can't seem to find it.... Anyone know where it is?

I found a verso tune thread but no driveway one.

So it had a piggy back ecu but now has just the verso tune?

Or does it have a verso over the top of the piggy back ecu?

I'm asking as its going on the dyno tomorrow.

JDGT05 01-04-2013 01:46 PM

Ello Wes!

stoff 01-04-2013 02:40 PM

Tiigga 01-04-2013 06:37 PM

Very nice looking FOZ
Much like for what you have done to it..
And those rims HAWTTT

scoobywes 01-04-2013 07:38 PM

Thanks for the link Stoff..

Munya.... Should have come and said hello.

I was enjoying the cars out on the track. Just wish i was out there.

forexter 01-04-2013 09:32 PM

Looking good Wes. Will get around to putting my foz up on here at some point.

BXT 01-04-2013 11:26 PM

Yeah, thats my old girl.....(sniff, sniff).....still miss it to bits. Was such a wolf in sheeps clothing. Put plenty of VE Clubbys to shame in the old traffic light GP :D

WTF did the next owner do to it??? I remember he was a very young dude...had to get his mum's ok before shelling out the dough when I sold it.

Wes, you've done an amazing job on it mate.....pretty much exactly how I wanted it to look just didn't have the Ministers approval for any mods so kept it sleeper spec but spent up on the unseen stuff.

I'm not sure you're going to get much more out of the setup in terms of power...it made 217wkw on the ASG dyno.....IMHO I think the setup was really good, tons of mumbo for the street, minimal lag even with the P20 so it was always ready to go. We only sold it because bubs 3 came along but most of its life it had two baby seats in the back + prams & strollers + packing 200+wkw LOL.

I'll PM you my number if you want to have a chat Wes.

TROLLEY 02-04-2013 12:08 AM

Looks hot, I love XT7's. Question - is this a 2.0L or a 2.5L? Just asking as the VF34 is obviously doing a good job.

BXT 02-04-2013 12:20 AM

2.5l

PRODIGY 02-04-2013 12:45 AM

Good to see the Scooby2 plates still going strong, albeit a different colour now.
The Foz looks fantastic.

RUSSGT 02-04-2013 08:55 AM

Wow it was aweful when you got it! Looks wicked now! Well done.

zver333 02-04-2013 09:49 AM

I saw this at RAC yesterday and it looks mint!

I did just after you drove in as we had just finished stickering up the blue 06 sti that was parked up next to my bug:toothy9:

scoobywes 02-04-2013 07:36 PM

Thanks for the comments guys.

Spent the morning at Evolutionr today on the dyno. Previous tune was running a little lean so was good tohave it looked at.

Run number 1 came up with around 245whp. With some changes Warick was able to get this up to 271.9whp on the same boost.

Runs a lot smoother now and goes very well.

lol...

The young guy that owned it before me was pretty young. Sold it on as he was banned with accumulating speeding fines.
Was still in great condition but i think it had some body work repaired on the passenger side. Tell tell signs of overspray on the mirror.

I know you are not supposed to compare dynos to other dynos but EvolutionR displayed 248WHP on the first run. ASG = 291WHP?

It was running a bit lean too so that was fixed by changing some of the mix ratios. Then using the same boost 1.2bar they managed to get it to 272WHP.

It could be that im using a Genome rear muffler now instead of the xForce muffler. Might be restricting air flow a little bit.

Glad you like what i have done with the Foz though BXT. You did some great mods to it and im reaping the rewards. :)

RUSSGT 03-04-2013 01:52 PM

LOL. Evo R at it again.

scoobywes 03-04-2013 02:35 PM
LOL. Evo R at it again.
What does that mean?

If anything they made it a safer tune than it was.

RUSSGT 03-04-2013 03:39 PM

Just interesting how after many tunes from BXT at ASG, its lasted 6-7 years yet was lean... Did they give you a plot of this lean run?

scoobywes 03-04-2013 05:01 PM
Just interesting how after many tunes from BXT at ASG, its lasted 6-7 years yet was lean... Did they give you a plot of this lean run?
I have some print outs of the tunes comparing but only boost and torque figures. There was a meter reading something placed on the dash during the tunethat was saying lean when reaching high boost.

Im no expert and this was my first ever dyno / tune experience. They reduced some fuel/air mixture levels from high 11's to 11.0 and this made it better somehow. Dont ask me how.

Does that make any sense?

forexter 12-04-2013 05:43 PM

What wheels are you going for if you sell the work wheels Wes.
I've seen a Genome one after it had been cut up and they actually have a restrictor in the piping that goes down to under 2.5" diameter inside.

Free up some of that power and get something a little more less restricted. :icon_thum

Love your work wes...new wheels look excellent.

How many kms on the clock now if you don't mind me asking?

JRecardo 18-11-2013 10:32 PM

Those pics look fantastic dude, nice.

Whenever I see a foz in person it looks like a massive road boat, but I must say they look awesome with some nice wheels and ride height taken out of it
