Ty's JDM Leggy GT
Hi all, thought i'd post up my new car.. A 2003 JDM Legacy Gt (5speed auto). My uncle owned this car while he was in Japan in 09 and brought it back to Aus a year later before finally selling it to me last week. The car has been very well looked after and drives/presents like new, even has the blue plastic still on the scuff plates, Original floor mats, Original look bogs with full service history from the previous owner in Japan plus all work carried out since my uncle had owned it.
I've been told the JDM model has a heap of improvements over the Aussie delivered models of the day including twin scroll turbo, HID's, fold in mirrors, heated windscreen wipers, alloy lower control arms, bigger sway bars and as i discovered today my car has bilstein shocks. The only 'mod' i've done so far is the intake silencer delete. Future mod's will include.. Turbo, injectors, pump,TBE with a decat, cooler and a E85 tune as well as some Work XD7's,lowering and some subtle cosmetic mods. Can't wait to come for a drive with you guys! Few pics.. Friends and family think you're about to have a kid. 2. Has more understeer when pushing hard then my old FWD Magna on coilovers and decent wheels and tyres. |
Nice score! Welcome :)

Nice car welcome!
Afaik there is only limited number of bolt on turbos for the 2 litre twin scroll. Turbos from other twin scroll sti's have to be customized to make fit just curious as to your knowledge of this . |
Cheers guys!
Red, Yes turbo upgrades are definitely thin on the ground however this model is almost 100% bolt on Kinugawa Billet Turbocharger SUBARU 06-07 Legacy Liberty TD04HL-20T Twin Scroll just have to reuse one of the lines instead of using the one provided. |
Will be keen to see a turbo upgrade whichever path you take the one above or a more customized one :)
Heard also the turbos on the autos are more prone to faluire vf38 i think and can fail around 100k mark ? Good excuse for upgrade haha |
Not chasing more then 180kw@wheels at this stage so this turbo will do the job :)
Hmm first time i've heard that but yeah any excuse will do haha This car has 166 on the clock and on the original VF38 as far as i'm aware and my uncle never drove in anger (just not the type) and it's still boosting strong *touch wood so hopefully she hangs in there until upgrade time. |
TY, TJ, I don't think the internet is ready for this.

Add TW to that list as well

Issues are the AVCS oil filters
Motor is a 207 X, block is open deck with light con rods. failure of under intake air inlet to turbo cracking and reading unmetered air AFR sensor My mate Brett has one for the family taxi. He picked it up for next to nothing with a failed big end bearing. He put a S204 207 bottom end in it with forge pistons and Michael South crank, ARP 2000 head bolts and had the heads serviced, deleted avcs oil filters and put the manual turbo on the auto car. Graham in the USA tuned it from Boosted Performance. It removes the smile from most Evo drivers faces when it takes off from the lights |
Some good info there seagull, I'll change the intake to a Samco type ASAP as a precautionary measure.
Given my car came with Bilsteins could this mean it's a spec B model? |
