Got some 'test' rubber fitted today. Went to wheels world to price up the tyres and asked if they had any old scrap tyres in this size so i could test fit before i pulled the pin. They lent me a pair of Toyo R888s. They have plenty of meat on them, but they are 7 yrs old. Probably hard as nails. took one of each size rim for testing. Only just got home now and gave em a quick mock up. So havent fully gone through all suspension/steering angles yet. But initial thoughts are its a meaty fitment and i like it.
New Yoko AO50 in 295/30R18 are 599 a corner. It jumps up to 649 a corner in 295/35R18. Im thinking medium compound is the go now after speaking with a few people in the know. They think the soft has the grip advantage, but at a sacrifice of wear. And at $2.4k a go, i think i might forgo a little grip for life. Also, softs may get too hot on the hotter WA days. And arent recomended for barbs unless you have deep pockets to keep replacing them. Anyways. Enough dribble. Give me pics.
