Can't remember if you've gone FMIC or not?

If so are you still running the scoop? Mine always struggled with temps there in the summer my plan was to delete the scoop and have a flat vent in its place.

The problem you have with an FMIC AND the scoop in place is the warm engine bay air cant escape. You have warm summer air being forced into the engine bay via the hood scoop which is stopping the hot air in the engine bay escaping which means temps just climb (including intake temps).

If you just put a flat vent instead of the scoop you improve the flow of the hot air out of the engine and temps will drop significantly.

This was an issue on a Time Attack car I worked on. The first lap or two were ok but temps started to climb after that and for 20min sessions that was no good.

Although we didn't have anything to replace it with we just removed the scoop completely and the problem went away. It was a cheap fix. Certainly worth a shot in your case.
Yeah i now have a FMIC. I have an all alloy radiator, but its a chinese unit, and only single thickness core. And recently put in one of those low temp thermostats.

I do agree about the scoop being redundant and actually a hinderance to getting air through the radiator. I think this is even a little more pronounce now as i have the oil lines running along the bottom of the thermofan shroud. And that is very close to the motor aswell so it kind of blocks any air that exits the radiator from travelling down and out the bottom of the engine bay. And i do have alot of clutter coming down either side if the gearbox to below so that kinda hinders air flow aswell

So in an attempt to help with cooling, a reverse scoop has been ordered and fitted. Its an Ebay unit. Looks to be fiber glass / FRP, with the final outer layer a carbon fibre weave, and gell coat. I dont really know any where else to buy such an item except for ebay. So ebay it was.

I also ordered a Mishimoto X-line radiator from car mods aus. Over 2 weeks later and it still hasnt shown up. Bit of a joke when Taiwan post is faster than Toll... especially when the CMA website has little pop ups saying that if you order in the morning that day, they will dispatch that arvo. which was a straight up lie, took another 3 or so days to dispatch. The radiator is a WRX item, and i will either use WRX spec hoses, or TIG weld on forester spec hose outlets. Will wait till it arrives to see what needs modding to fit it. Probs also get some high powered thermo fans aswell.

Here's a crappy phone pic of the scoop. Not a perfect fit, but pretty decent.

This also arrived the other day. Exedy Racing Hyper Compe-D Twin plate clutch kit. Its not carbon friction material, instead the Exedy ceramic-metalic, with 2 sets of 4 puck sprung friction discs. I know i always said id get the carbon triple if i ever got another clutch. But it looks like they may be discontinued/obsolete now? And i already have a rebuildable Exedy Carbon-D Twin anyways. So thought id try the Compe-D. It certainly looks hyper pornographic.

Its got a smaller diameter clutch disc/pressure plate setup, which keeps the mass closer to the axis of rotation, and also leaves space around the perimiter of the flywheel for added speed holes, which the Carbon-D didnt. I havent wieghed it yet, but i expect it to be about the same wieght if not lighter than the Carbon-D, but with maybe more wieght to the clutch discs (gearbox side)? The clutch disc setup is different to the Carbon-D aswell. The Carbon-D has 1 central sprung hub, that each carbon disc keys directly onto it. Whereas the Compe-D has each friction disc complete with its own sprung center. So maybe more wieght there? It still keeps the pull clutch style of disengagement, which saves the hassle of converting to push. Hopefully it will be upto the task? The car has stupendous amounts of torque through the mid range and i think thays what will put it to the test. I think the bit im liking the most is not having to pre-heat the carbon anymore.

Is this car for daily driving at all, or just pure race car now?

It hasnt ever been a 'daily driver' car while in my possession. Ive always had company cars and fuel cards. And its hasnt even been a street car since around the last 3-4 yrs which was around when it became too modified for normal driving. Now its just a toy car. Id like to say race car, but it hardly even gets raced now that RAC is closed.
