Default Fitness / Gym

Who here goes to a gym?
Or does their own form of exercise with out the fees of a gym.

Basically I want to start getting fit, as I am far from it at the moment.

How ever I find with out a partner to do it with I lake the motivation to get up and do it.

Saying that i don't want to be paying $70 a month + gym fees

Don't mind paying something just not heaps, I figure having that gym membership will force you to go more often as well.
mainly running I need to get up to speed. Cardio fitness.
Not interested in Weights really.

Just wondering what other fitness minded people on here do and the type of time you put into it.

Plus if anyone is around my area who wants exercise partner

Cheers

Tim

Girlfriend is a personal trainer and she does a lot of group sessions mainly focusing on cardio. There's always a few groups at hyde park in the am and pm. Going to those group ones are always a great workout and you only pay for when you go. 2 - 3 times a week and I have seen some starting from around $10.

Or just ask about Macey's workout plan

Depends if u want to lose weight or are ok weight wise and want to get fit. Obviously running 8 - 10kms 4/5 x week you'll get pretty fit fairly quickly. You can mix up your runs doing fartlek runs, Kings Park has some great, varied routes from 6 - 12kms. I play rugby & touch so do a lot of 400m training which is great for your aerobic fitness. Any running you do should be timed and recorded to help you stay motivated and give you a goal i.e beating your previous time/PB. Also entering in road races/tris etc is good motivation for you to stay fit.

Book in with a trainer for one on one or small groups. If you rely on a gym membership to get you motivated you may struggle.
Having someone waiting for you is the best way.
Most people tend to keep an appointment.

Wife is currently doing boot camp with ECU Mount Lawley gym.

Heads 3 times a week to kings park, reobold hill or beach etc and trains in a group with a trainer.

some lifting but mainly cardio - its around $150 for 6 weeks or $15 a session (dont need to be gym member)

Friday she ran up the DNA tower and Wed she was running in the sand at the beach carrying logs.

sounds like fun if cardio is what your after (which I'm not) - I train at ECU also but mainly weights - 5% cardio.

Yeah i don't need to loose weight, maybe little beer belly haha but the running will fix that. oh and less drinking.

But yeah If i can get to a point where I am running 5kms continuously.
I find the Beep test is a good method of testing performance gain.

some of those ideas sound good.

It's the getting up in the morning or home after work and trying to decide to run on my own is where I often would go .. cbf to hard.

when i was running with my brother each morning i got up because i knew he was coming had to.

Just find the nearest park that is home to some form of women's sport and jog laps around the oval for a few km's. Get fit and perve. Win Win.

If I had a running partner live close who wanted to run everyday Id be all for it. just not as pushing by your self.
I like the idea of the beach, kings park runs. Might look into that one.

Problem with most of those groups is they are designed for people who barely work
and always are at hours to close to working hours.
