Your MY95 WRX does not have a closed deck block.

RS Libertys have closed deck blocks, and certain STi Type RA engines also. The 22B had a fully closed deck 2.2 block, as did the USDM Liberty Turbo.

Late model EJ207's have reinforced bores, also known as "semi-closed deck"

Every other model WRX/STi etc, has an open deck block.
