General rule of thumb, for all out performance, going up an inch in diametre from oem. Vehicle dynamics aren't jeopardised, wheel clearance is still acceptable. 18's on the street on my00 isnt an issue, and you can find some very light wheels, more so rubber is the biggest weight culprit, so keeping width's modest and less tyre wall will save some weight as well.
