use wheel speed as a axis in a 3d table on rev-limit, and specify a fuel cut based rev-limit, no need to use the clutch.

motec can take input from multiple sources to regulate 'traction' rather then just generating wheel spin, it can then engage ignition/fuel cuts to limit power to presets, you can also specify slip targets, how aggressivly power is cut etc.
taking it to the next level, motec produce a TC MUX module ($300 or so) which can take wheel sensor, g sensor and other inputs and directly feed the motec to properly do traction control/launch control simultaneously.
