My recommendation would have been:
- Some engine oil other than Redline, purely for the cost factor (i.e. other oils half the price do the same job, such as Motul).
- Redline lightweight shockproof gear oil
- Genuine coolant
Although lightweight shockproof "isn't suitable" for Subaru boxes, I alternate between Redline and Castrol in my box whenever I change it, and I'm sure to flush it out too (run cheap oil in the box for a few hundred km to get rid of the old stuff, then drop it out and put proper stuff in)...and I've NEVER had a problem.
I got the Castrol in the box atm and Mobil 10W-30 synthetic in the engine. Works a treat
