Go back to 2005 when the first pics of the MY06 came out. Wow everyone said how ugly it was and no one would buy one.

Go back to 2000 when the first pics of the MY01 came out. It's still ugly
But people want them.
Also, if you don't like it. Tough. They won't make you a new GC8.
Personally I think the appeal of a hot hatch is great. Means I don't just have to look at R32 Golfs.
