In my impreza i have done all methods k&n panel , engine bay pod , pod in the air box with some flexible running in the guard sucking in cool air from the front, pod in the guard and they all have problems filters get dirty really quick water ect ect I am now running a pod in a custom aluminum air box that is fully insulated in 12 mm Armour flex that is sucking air straight through the guard seems to be working pretty good car seems to have a little bit more power and is using less fuel but i see how it goes in summer

Oh and if you are wondering why i have tried all these different methods well the answer is easy Its a Na ej18 and i need all the power i can get
