The Boxster S is a pretty quick car ,the 2.7 isn't, but still it's no slug. Obviously from a performance point of view vs cost you're not getting your moneys worth when you're looking at over $100K for the 2.7l model, but the Boxster isn't really about out and out performance. If you flew over to Germany and tried to explain to the CEO of Porsche that your ricer STI is quicker than his standard Boxster, he would look at you like you were some kind of idiot. Porsche need a range of cars to suit various demand, Cayenne for SUV lovers, 911/Cayman for performance and the Boxster is for someone that wants a Porsche, but doesn't necessarily want supercar speed. Porsche have never marketed the Boxster as a track hero. It's not all about performance, there are other aspects to cars other than it's 0 - 400m time.
