I know of several LS1 powered cars that suffered from massiove oil consumption. they were babied and suffered as a result. Others were thrashed to the sh!ts and still going strong today.
When we got our VS senator (215 stroker) the first drive was to waroona and back (for work) a mixture of revs and loads was recommended.
Most manufacturers just tell you to vary the load, not sit at a constant rpm for prolonged time-frames and not over rev the motor (redline in every gear).

mineral oil seems to be the go for starters and then fully synthetic.

but i am sure the boys wiull know what to do.
