As a point of reference I drove my EJ205 for 6 weeks after the head gasket went, with copious abuse and it still drove absolutely fine upon removal. Shpoolin will attest to our encounter on Tonkin Hwy on the way to pull the motor out as the Defi showed 125 degrees....

My point is that the 3 week thing is something im willing to believe.


What is going to be a point of conjecture though, is what exactly was asked to be replaced as part of the rebuild. Generally if its not asked for I dont see why the mechanic should replace it. When they present the customer with a bill for these, im sure they wont be impressed.

However, they should strongly push for these simple things to be done at time of build.
