not saying downloading child porn is ok, coz i think its wrong and some children somewhere in the world have been mistreated because of it.
my point is that the community accepts certain (and potentially worse) crimes over the others.... what would happen if a drug dealer selling hard stuff to kids under 18 was caught?

Yeah I agree. I suppose this is a delicate topic so it's a bit difficult offering an alternate view without people thinking you're condoning their behaviour. But you do get situations for example where people have been abused/raped as children and subsequently they themselves end up being attracted to young kids when they grow up. I'm sure they didn't want to be abused and I'm sure they don't want to find young kids attractive. But then you can't have people living free in society that are like that.
