I always drive with the lights on simply to be seen better not to give the hurry up. ( Suprising how well a black pig dissapears into the background on a bright sunny day from straight in front )

Unless it is heavy traffic most see me well before I get to them and move over. Think most people it is more a case of not even looking to see you. The lights catch their attention and gives them a mental jog of what they should be doing.

Never flash unless I am getting highbeamed from an oncoming car or overtaking on a single lane each way road at night ( just to get their attention especialy with road trains or caravan )
