the stock brakes are pretty spongy, i like a harder pedal feel. i cant remember what the 4 pots felt like on the MY00. better brake lines may fix that problem.

I can pretty much assure you the OEM brembos won't fit under the stock rims, they are a fat chunky caliper. Aftermarket solutions like the Brembo, AP, Alcon, Stoptech, ProjectMu etc will be a thinner caliper and perform better, but may still require a different offset rim.

But, I'm pretty sure the 08 WRX discs are 330mm compared to the normal 290mm discs for the 98-07 4 pot calipers. they have a much bigger swept area (the same size as the OEM Brembos) so upgrading the pads & discs should give you the performance gain you are looking for. as for the looks? I guess you could paint the calipers

after all that, i'm not sure of the legalities of "down grading" your braking system.
