The fuzz just drive around, see plates, type it into their computer and see what comes up in the database.
If i was a cop, i'd be typing in all the custom plates i see driving around, then making a decision on whether i wanna pull them over or not, not just to check the car, but for any other possible offences that comes up.
When they are behind you, quite often you see them checkin you up on their computer. They have pretty high-tech gear in their cars these days.

Should i pull him over .. Maybe i've just got a stupid idea where if you have standard looking plates, and a relatively sleeper spec car, you'll avoid detection somewhat.
I'm just thinkin advertising you've got some horses under the hood can be a bad idea, not just with police, but in carparks with vandalism/theft etc.
