I really don't know how they work but I put my ex wife onto a car that was on here & some ass clown had actually blocked them off from the water pump...used a marker pen apparently, the car had all the symptoms of a blown head gasket but this turned out to be the problem, re routing them may not be as bad but I guess they are there for a reason.
