On the advice of Doug. I used 500ml of Diesel Fuel as my oil flush. added to my oil and let it idle for 15mins. Then I dropped my old oil, which flowed almost like water, and then cranked the engine with the ignitors disconnected for 10 secs to get as much oil out of the engine. Let it sit for a few hours.

I put fresh 10w40 Motul 300V in. That's actually slightly thicker than whats recommended for Gen1 Turbo Liberty/Legacy. Most people use 5w30 or 0w40. But I haven't heard a peep out of the lifters. Lifters were a common problem on early Libs. They get really noisy and even set off the knock sensor causing the ECU to retard the timing. Makes for a very sluggish car when the lifters are at their worst. But since the Diesel Fuel flush, no problems. Cheaper than that bottled stuff you buy from Auto stores.
