well since we are talking about it...

Breathing is actually a reaction to having carbon dioxide in your lungs.... if for instance you fill your lungs with another gas .. eg helium.. and there is no CO2 at all you will be unable to exhale, instead someone will have to breathe CO2 into your lungs for the reaction of exhaling to occur.
