A lot of it also has to do with their turn-over. The older the fuel gets the worse it gets, often negating any advantage of the 98 RON.
Found this when I used to buy in 100 RON Racing Fuel for my Cortina. Would only buy 20l drums as I didn't use enough to warrant a 220L drum, and it would go off if not used.
Perhaps a recommendation of brand and location of servo would be useful to some people.
