Mine did the exact same thing on my 99 WRX a few years ago. I changed the fuel pump and away I went. If your doing the pump you might as well upgrade to the walbro GSS-342. I bought mine off a seller called UDOGG for $145. If you don't trust ebay as there are china fakes out there just buy local and save yourself the stress. That seller was recommended on a web site I was reading and mine looked the real deal. It's installed but I have yet to try it. If I was to buy one again I would buy local just to be %100 sure.
