Yeah the factory EJ207 short motor with forged pistons is a nice bit of gear. Thanks to the material in their forged pistons they use a tolerance approximately 10 times tighter than your typical shop built motor. This equates to lower oil usage and minimal piston slap. This slap, common in built motors until they reach operating temperature causes the rings to prematurely wear reducing the overall life of a motor.
That said, I am enjoying my stroked and fully closed EJ20G block
