That shot was F/4 (lowest available for my 17-85mm) at 20mm, ISO320 and 1/8000 shutter speed and was on the aperture priority setting on my camera.
I only had 30mins to take a few photos and I drove around for about 15mins looking for the spot. The other angle has a more neutral background but the camera didnt focus very well when I pressed the button (need a remote release).

Shooting from further back with the longer focal length (ie shoot at 80mm instead of 20mm) will possibly help to blur the background. However, even at 80mm, f4 probs aint gona do much.
