..that is exactly why if worse comes to worse i will just try and pawn these nexens off cheap oh ebay etc (with these lower load ratings they are really more suited to FWD cars running on 18's), and get new tyres pronto once car is up and running again.

tyre options for 215/35/R18 for subarus almost dont exist AFAIK, probably looking at 215/40/R18 which do have the require load and speed ratings for subarus.
